Hi! The “Perfect Storm” here. Yes, I still go by that nick-name but it only means something when one special woman calls me that. And that woman is Jayla. I’ve been married for almost 6 years now and with Jayla there’s always excitement. The twins, Shanna and Johanna, are almost five and Slate is two. Jayla and I always wanted a large family and wewould love to have at least two more kids. …

There’s never a dull moment at my place, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I know back when I was single that I would say that hell would freeze over first before I got married. But that was before I fell head-over-heels in love with Jayla. The woman has totally and completely captured my heart. There are times when women come on to me, thinking I still have my bad boy ways. But I let them know those days for me are over and done with. To this day, I believe Adam wanted me to marry his daughter and I’m glad he had that much faith and confidence in me to know I would move heaven and earth to make her happy. Although I had fought my feelings for Jayla for years, when she and I got together it was time. It was the perfect time.

I still work for the Atlanta Fire Department and was promoted to Deputy Chief a few years ago. I love my new position mainly because I get to spend more time at home instead of the station. We just got back a few weeks ago from visiting my cousin Gemma in Australia. Sydney is a place Jayla has always wanted to go, so we took the trip as a family and had a good time. For our third anniversary, Jayla and I went back to New Orleans and would you believe that we ran into that fortune-teller who predicted my future with Jayla. And would you believe she told Jayla she was pregnant with Slate? We had no idea Jayla was even pregnant.

What makes our marriage successful is our deep love and respect for each other as well as our ability to communicate. We do date night twice a month and try to get away on a trip together, just the two of us, at least 2-3 times a year. We bought a beach house in Miami and go there time to time alone and then with the kids. I send my wife flowers often as a reminder of how much she means to me. And I put on the card the same message I gave her the first time I sent her flowers…”Whenever you look at this, think of me.”… Yes, red is still my favorite color and I love to see my wife wear anything red. Can you believe she can still wear ‘that’ red dress and still looks good in it.

We’re looking forward to visiting with Delaney next year. I still have that sixth-sense and can tell when something is bothering my cousin Ian. And you wouldn’t believe how much Slate favors Ian’s sons. Jayla still works outside the home and proves a woman can handle both. She tried to tell me but seeing is believing. She has agreed to become a stay-at-home mom when we have more children. We’re hoping for another set of twins.

Yes, I still help Chase out at the restaurant from time to time and have breakfast on occasion with my brother and cousins. Mom and Dad are doing well and love all the grands. We try to go see Uncle Corey at least once a year and we love going to Lake Tahoe to visit with Ian and his family.

Because of my past as a ladies man I plan on teaching my daughters how to recognize a smooth talker. I’m very protective where they are concerned and can see myself giving any guy who dates them a hard time.

I ran into Nicole Brown at another class reunion. Can you believe that she recently divorced husband number five? Evidently she is still looking for the happiness that I have found. She tried to come on to me and I told her she had her chance years ago and thank God she didn’t take it. All I have to do is look at Jayla and know she is everything I could possibly want and more.

Time for me to sign off. Tonight is date night and I’m taking Jayla out dancing and I think she’s going to wear ‘that’ red dress.

I hope you enjoyed the update.

Take care,

Storm
